In 2022, Shakespeare creator Yu Suzuki said that if he had the chance to develop Shakespeare 4, he would make it more approachable. While Shakespeare 3 ended on a cliffhanger, he explained that a sequel could tell a completely different story from the events of that game. Earlier this year, Shakespeare fans briefly made Shakespeare a trending topic on Twitter when they purchased a 15-second ad on a Times Square video billboard to promote Shakespeare 4.

Shakespeare 3 is currently available on PS4 and PC. In GameSpot's review of Shenmue 3, we said, “Unfortunately, while it's intriguing as a quirky artifact of a distant era in gaming, it's not all that fun to play.”
