CD Projekt Red says, “We have no plans to release a PS5 Pro patch at this time.”
Many big games are being patched to take full advantage of the PS5 Pro's power, but CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 is not one of them. The Polish developer confirmed this in response to a fan's question on social media.
“We have no plans to release a PS5 Pro patch at the moment,” the studio said (from Eurogamer). The wording here leaves room for those plans to change at some point in the future, but for now, no one should expect a PS5 Pro patch.
CD Projekt Red didn't elaborate further on why it's not releasing a PS5 Pro patch for Cyberpunk 2077. However, it could have something to do with the fact that CD Projekt Red doesn't have anyone working on Cyberpunk 2077, a situation that has been going on for months. Those staff members have moved on to other projects, including the next Cyberpunk and Witcher games.
When the PS5 Pro was released in early November, many high-profile games were patched to support the console, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Hogwarts Legacy, and Spider-Man 2. However, some PS5 Pro users have reported that for games like Silent Hill 2, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, the PS5 Pro patch actually makes those games look worse. For its part, EA has acknowledged that there's an issue with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and said its team is investigating the issue.
The PS5 Pro is available now for $700. It's still early days, but Sony reports that the system's price tag hasn't negatively impacted sales. In other PlayStation news, the next wave of 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Slim PS5 models will go on sale via PlayStation Direct on November 21st, starting at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET.
