Battlefield veteran Patrick Soderlund's upcoming game Arc Raiders looks very impressive in its latest gameplay video.
Earlier this year, Embark Studios, co-founded by Battlefield veteran Patrick Soderlund, changed the direction of Arc Raiders' development. The game, originally planned as a free-to-play shooter, was changed to a paid version. Now, Arc Raiders' latest gameplay video shows why Embark Studios had the confidence to make this move, as it showcases an impressive and dangerous post-apocalyptic world.
The game is set in the future, where humans have taken refuge beneath the surface to avoid deadly Arc machines that are programmed to slaughter any human they find. Players will take on the role of a raider, risking their lives to return to the surface in search of much-needed supplies while dodging the machines as well as hostile raiders who don't want to share any of the loot.
Getting in and out of these locations isn't easy, although having a team to provide you with protection helps improve your chances of survival. Smaller Arc machines are always on patrol, and larger machines aren't as easy to eliminate as their counterparts. Enemy attackers can also ambush the team before they reach the extraction point. However, this will only attract the attention of the Arc machines, which will target both sides of the conflict. For the machines, the only good guys are the dead.
While Arc Raiders isn't finished yet, early gameplay already looks good.Embark Studios will release the game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2025.
