LEGO Horizon Adventure brings back Cyrene with the help of Star Trek Legends

Nov 13, 2024

The role of Sylens is filled by a legendary Star Trek actor who has played five different roles in the sci-fi franchise.

With the tragic death of actor Lance Reddick in 2023, Horizon fans were curious about the fate of the character he played, Serenity. With this week's release of LEGO Horizon Adventures, at least in the spin-off game, Serenity does appear and is voiced by Star Trek: Voyager actor Tim Russ.

As the game's second protagonist, Serenus is similar in many ways to Eloy, the hero of Horizon, as he too explores the world's secret history in the aftermath of a cataclysmic event that brought the machines to the top of the food chain. Lars is no stranger to the Horizon series, as he previously played the character of Jetaka in Horizon: Forbidden West. In Lego Horizon Adventures, he appeared as “DJ Cyrus” (from IGN).

Earlier this year, Horizon developer Guerrilla said that Sylens had been recast to join LEGO Horizon Adventures, but wasn't ready to reveal details at the time. Several of the original Horizon voice actors also appeared in the LEGO games, including Ashly Burch as the voice of Aloy, JB Blanc as the voice of Rost, and John Macmillan as the voice of Varl.In addition to Sylens, Reddick also voiced Zavala in Bungie's Destiny games.

Following his death, Destiny 2 players held an in-game vigil in the actor's honor, and Bungie subsequently announced that his role would be carried on by Keith David, starting with the Final Form expansion pack.

Mark Delaney wrote in GameSpot's review of LEGO Horizon Adventures, “With blocks and minifigures, Horizon is charmingly reworked to appeal to a younger audience, though its formulaic missions can be nerve-wracking for players of all ages. ” The game will officially release on November 14th on PS5, PC, and Switch.
