Fans of Netflix 's Arcane were disappointed to learn that the series based on League of Legends will end after its second season. The final episode will go live on November 23rd as the show staggered the release of three episodes. While fans can't wait to witness the finale, they are sad to see it go.
Arcane has gained a large following with its unique art style, stories inspired by the LoL universe, and excellent writing, especially when it comes to depicting Jinx and Vi's relationship. As the series' big finale approaches, fans have been hoping to see more from the studio and the world it has built. According to a tweet from Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill, their prayers appear to have been answered.
As Insider Gaming discovered, Merrill said “because there are so many other stories to tell” in response to a tweet asking why Arcane wouldn't have more seasons. While that doesn't mean much, it certainly suggests that Riot is considering making more shows set in League of Legends. They could be related or standalone, but it looks like there will be more stories to come for Arcane.
This short answer has raised hope for fans of the series, who may now look forward to more LoL content. The answer also prompted another question asking if Riot would “reboot their lore department and release stories and other types of content again,” to which Merrill gave another short and sweet answer, “Happy to, if we can hit the right notes.”
We recently learned that Arcane is the most expensive animated show ever made, with a total budget of $250 million. With that kind of investment, it seems unlikely that Riot would just give up on the animated series route. In fact, Merrill went on to say that Riot Games is “very pleased with the amount of money that has been spent to deliver a show worthy of our players' time.”
Add in the fact that after Arcane's success, Netflix will also be gunning for another such show by Riot, and it looks like all the parties would be gunning for more LoL content. However, nothing has been officially announced yet, and it will probably remain that way until act three of Arcane season two is out.
